Environment
My mood often depends on my environment. Because of this, I must create pleasant environments for myself. I work in libraries or cafes. If I do work at home, I make myself coffee or tea and create a comfortable spot for myself at my table. I need fresh air. I need to hear people every once in a while. When I am not working, I have to be mindful as well. I can't spend all my time inside.. and if I don't get out early in the day it can be really hard to get outside later on. So, I get outside as soon as possible. I have lists of activities that I can do on any day.. so that I never feel alone.
The best advice I was ever given was by my dad. I don't remember exactly what he said but the idea was that when you are down, you have to do something about it. This sounds so simple.. so natural. But sometimes, it isn't. We get sad and we think that it will last forever.. or some wonderful event will take us out of our sadness. I am trying to learn this lesson which I call "How to Help Yourself."
